Stoneridge International Camp

Australian Trip – Stone Ridge

Dear SR parents and students

It has been wonderful to coach your girls this winter and I hope some of the team might continue after the season finishes. For summer, besides our weekly camps, we also have a wonderful activity, our 8th trip to Australia! We have mentioned this trip to the girls and wanted to share with you some details. Our plan is to be in Australia for 3 weeks from July 3. Thus far, SR students Charlotte grade 9 and Elodie gr 6, are attending. Their mom, Suzanne Hollman, will be coming over for the first half of the trip and then returning to the US with Elodie. This 1.5 week option is also available for your girls and they will return with Mrs Hollman.

In summary – our plan includes

Lots of squash with 2 top Australian coaches and their players

Lots of fun activities including Lone Pine (the worlds largest koala sanctuary), Skyrail over the rainforest to the wonderful city of Kuranda with a return train ride which is an engineering feat in itself, visit to Sydney to see the Opera house, bridge, Rocks area and the famous QVB building

Visiting two Schools of the Scared Heart – Stuarholme in Brisbane QLD and Kincoppal – Rose Bay school in Sydney, NSW

More details may be found at https://aussienicksquash.com/international-camp/ including costs, and inclusions

Please let me know if you would like further information and I look forward to seeing you at upcoming matches and the end of season dinner at my house after the final Gonzaga match

Regards

Coach Connie

Nutrition
Did you know that eating carbohydrates too close to a game can actually be detrimental to performance? Do you know which food group is most important to avoid in the lead up to competition. Good nutrition is an important aspect of achieving top performance in sport and life in general. The program will provide guidance for the development of good nutritional habits for lifelong sports performance.

 Sports Psychology
“There is nothing wrong with saying to yourself that you don’t want to do all the mental training stuff but there is something wrong with thinking that you will get to the top without it” (Orlick 2000). Psychological tests are performed and help develop strategies for improvement.
